We source our beautiful products from artisan cooperatives worldwide that adhere to fair trade principles. Our products are mostly made by women and for women, and so we invest in programs that empower women, both in the United States and around the world. This is Full Circle Economics.
We, at Vavavida, want to create a fairer world for everyone. Through our main non-profit partner, Project Concern International (PCI), we invest part of our revenue in the communities from where we get our products.
Women Empowered is a PCI initiative that is dedicated to promoting the economic and social empowerment of women through the formation of self-managed and self-sustaining groups. Before starting the WE project, 82% of the participants reported that they felt somewhat to totally powerless to change their lives. Only 27% felt that way after the project. The WE initiative has provided impressive benefits to women, including: increased food and economic security for them and their families, greater savings, improved relations between the participants and their husbands, increased leadership in the community, and greater self-sufficiency.
We donate 10% of our sales to PCI and upto 25% of our sales towards PCI’s special projects.
Komen is a global leader of the breast cancer movement. The organization is strong because of the grassroots network of survivors, their family and activists, who dedicate themselves to raising funds to provide global and local grants. Locally, Komen San Diego insures that women diagnosed with the disease have access to the care needed, including diagnostics, treatment, patient navigation, meals (including family), transportation, living needs, and more.
